The ISC students attended the Noble Prize Outreach programme at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust, Juhu where they received valuable insights from Noble Laureate Professor James A Robinson followed by interactive Question and Answer session.
Professor Robinson won the Noble prize in Economics 2024 along with Professor Daren Acemoglu and Professor Simon Johnson for their studies on how institutions affect a country’s prosperity.
At the conference he shed light on inclusive and exclusive role of state institutions, the relationship between Democracy and GDP of nations, Rise of the western institutions etc.
The Session left the audience enlightened with engaging talks given by the eminent personality.
Hiranandani Foundation School, Powai hosted a grand and heartwarming
Founder's Day celebration on 17th September 2025 to honour its visionary founder, Dr. L. H. Hiranandani,
whose ideals and values continue to inspire the institution. The day was not only a
tribute to his remarkable contributions but also a reaffirmation of the school’s
commitment to carrying forward his legacy.
The distinguished and esteemed founder, Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, graced the
occasion alongside the Principal, Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik. The event, filled with
music, dance and heartfelt tributes, brought together students, teachers and the
PTA representatives.
The celebration commenced with a grand ceremonial welcome for Mr.
Hiranandani, who was received with enthusiasm by the school band, the Head Boy
and the Head Girl. A colourful procession of the student council, house captains,
and prefects followed, setting the tone for the day’s event.
The formal programme began with a warm welcome address by a student, after
which the dignitaries participated in the traditional lighting of the lamp. This
solemn moment, accompanied by a Sindhi prayer, added a touch of spirituality and
cultural depth to the event, symbolising wisdom, knowledge and the values the
school upholds.
The cultural segment of the programme showcased the multifaceted talents of the students. A melodious welcome song set the atmosphere aglow, followed by a classical dance performance that mesmerised the audience with its grace and rhythm. The joy of the day was further enhanced by a cake-cutting ceremony, during which the school choir uplifted spirits with a rousing rendition of “Congratulations and Celebrations.”
The highlight of the event was the series of inspiring speeches. Principal Mrs.
Kalyani Patnaik addressed the gathering with words that reflected pride in the
school’s journey and gratitude to its founder. Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani also
delivered a heartfelt address, encouraging the students to pursue excellence with
humility and integrity. Adding a personal and emotional touch, a student presented
a moving talk on “Daddy,” recounting the life journey, achievements, and timeless
teachings of Dr. L. H. Hiranandani.
In a gesture of love and appreciation, students offered handmade cards to Mr.
Hiranandani, while the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) presented him with a
beautiful bouquet, symbolising the respect and admiration of the entire school
community.
The celebration concluded on a joyous note when Mr. Hiranandani joined the students on the dance floor, interacting with them in a spirit of warmth and simplicity. He left the young learners with an inspiring mantra of happiness, reminding them that true success lies in living a balanced, cheerful, and purposeful life.
The Founder’s Day celebration was more than just a commemoration; it was a heartfelt tribute to a man whose vision laid the foundation of the school’s success. The event brought together students, teachers, parents, and dignitaries in a shared moment of pride and gratitude. It was a day that not only honoured the past but also inspired the present generation to walk confidently toward the future, upholding the values taught by our school’s founder, Dr. L.H. Hiranandani.
On 7th September 2025, our school community came together for a meaningful cause – a Beach Clean-Up Drive – following the Ganpati Visarjan held on 6th September.
The initiative saw the enthusiastic participation of our students along with the gracious presence of our respected School Trustee, Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani. With gloves, bags, and a strong sense of responsibility, our students worked diligently to collect waste and restore the natural beauty of the shoreline.
This drive not only reflected our school’s commitment to sustainability but also gave students the opportunity to experience the value of social responsibility, teamwork, and care for nature. It was inspiring to witness young minds take pride in protecting the environment while setting an example for the community.

Last week, Hiranandani Foundation School (HFS), Powai, had the valuable privilege of hosting a distinguished student exchange programme with the students of La Martiniere for Girls School, Kolkata. This initiative, spearheaded by Mrs. Kalyani Patnaik, Principal of HFS, and Mrs. Rupkatha Sarkar, Principal of La Martiniere, was a remarkable endeavour that fostered meaningful inter-school collaboration and enriched cultural understanding. The programme was thoughtfully curated to provide a holistic experience encompassing academic enrichment, cultural immersion, and city exploration. Students participated in a series of educational and creative workshops, including robotics and traditional Warli art.
They delivered engaging presentations that showcased the unique cultural vibrancy and heritage of their cities. The highlight of the programme was the inspiring interaction with Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, whose insights on professional ethics and perseverance left a profound and everlasting impact on the students. The visiting students were taken on a guided tour of Mumbai’s iconic landmarks. Starting with the scenic Bandra-Worli Sea Link, they journeyed through the newly constructed Coastal Road, arriving at Marine Drive to take in the city’s early morning charm. The tour continued with visits to the beautiful Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Gateway of India, and the Rajabai Clock Tower, among other architectural marvels Mumbai has to offer. One of the most memorable stops was the visit to the iconic Gaylord’s Bakery and the ever-popular K. Rustom’s Ice Cream Parlour, where students relished a delicious taste of Mumbai’s timeless culinary charm.
Among the many captivating activities, a Gala Night was organised featuring interactive games, lively music, and vibrant entertainment, giving students a joyful opportunity to bond and celebrate the spirit of the exchange. The program concluded with a heartfelt Closing Ceremony, where students of both schools were awarded trophies and certificates. Reflections shared by the girls highlighted how the exchange broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of each other’s cultures, and formed a connection that never fades — a true testament to the power of education in building bridges across cities and hearts.
Annual Concert of Hiranandani Foundation School, Powai, 18th December, 2024 Hiranandani Foundation School recently spellbound the audience with an enthralling annual concert, showcasing the incredible talents of over 722 students from Grade 1 to Grade 5. It was held at the Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha at Thane.
The School Annual Concert 2024 was a grand testimony to talent, achievement, and community spirit of the students. The event was graced by parents.
The day began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Principal Kalyani Patnaik , Her heartfelt opening words set the tone for the day's festivities, encapsulating the importance of holistic education and the role of extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded individuals. Her speech merged imperceptibly with the theme of the event.
Picaso’s words - “Every child is an artist” was resounding unequivocally through each of the stunning performances.
The highlight of the event was the spectacular dances, which ranged from classical Bharatanatyam to contemporary hip-hop. The well-orchestrated performance was a successful culmination of practice and dedication. The spectators were entertained by synchronized movements and the colourful costumes filling their heart with gratitude, fun and memories. The stage unfolded two thought-provoking shows, which aimed to address pressing social issues such as environmental conservation, balanced approach towards technology and the importance of perseverance and compassion. The praise and appreciation expressed by parents for their wards’ powerful performances and compelling narrative was staggering and evident in the loud cheers and unending round of applause.
The first show followed the theme of ‘Living the Virtues,’ and celebrated the values and imagination from the learning of life lessons through the captivating tales of the Panchatantra. The audience were transported to the heart of environmental awareness with "Echoes of the Earth," a poignant story about the importance of protecting our planet.
The second show, "The Inspirational Journey," was a tribute to history, culture, and innovation.Parents were enchanted by "The Magic Umbrella," a whimsical tale of adventure and discovery. They soon delved into the extraordinary with "The Telekinetic Spell in Buckinghamshire ," exploring the power of telekinesis and the importance of perseverance. "The Ascendancy of Dhamma," the story of Emperor Ashoka, highlighting the power of peace, compassion, and non-violence was an extraordinary play.
The entire event was attributed to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and the entire school community, under the visionary guidance of Principal Ms. Kalyani Patnaik. The Primary Supervisor Ms. Zulekha Khan and the teachers supported the entire team by words of affirmation and creating a positive environment. The School Annual Concert 2024 was a celebration of the school’s ethos and values. As the curtains fell on this grand event, there was a sense of pride and accomplishment that resonated with everyone present. The theme accentuated the fact that with expanded awareness we tap into the level of mind that has the power to bring a deliberate solution to the pressing issues we all face today. The event has left an indelible mark in the hearts of all present, leaving every vein in our body pulsating with joy and hearts filled with gallons of gratitude.

Maisha Vishal Gada is currently studying in Grade VII. She was born in Sydney, Australia and now lives in Powai. She has many hobbies and two of them are reading and writing. To follow her passion her parents enrolled her in the workshop to polish her writing skills. She is delighted that her short story has been published in a book called "One Story at a Time" by Scholastic!
Voicesonline, a webzine which is the brainchild of advocate Ruhail Choudhury which is trying to promote friendship among students across the world with various online activities hosted the Dr. Radhakrishnan Award for the third consecutive year on Saturday 3rd September 2022. The ambassador from Denmark His Excellency Freddy Svane was the chief guest of the event. This year, too, important contributors to the field of education were inducted into the growing bank of eminent educators awarded by the webzine. The award is to recognise and share the exemplary achievement of eminent educators who continue to impact impressionable minds through their works, ideas and words. In the previous years, we had the likes of L.W.Hartnett, Gurmeet Bindra, Rupkatha Sarkar, John A Bagul, Sunita Sen, Sumit Dargon, Joyeeta Mukherjee, Srabanti Basu, and Joeeta Basu who were recognised and felicitated for their outstanding contribution in the field of education.
